Alexian's CEO, Sascha John, is resigning from his position.

The Alexianer Group Bids Farewell to Sascha John

Sascha John, head honcho at Alexianer GmbH, a Catholic healthcare company, is handing in his hat due to personal, familial issues. His departure, announced in November 2023, leaves a significant void, but the shareholders and supervisory board respect his choice.

In a statement, Dr. Hartmut Beiker, head of the Alexianer brothers' foundation and the shareholders' meeting, expressed regret but acknowledged the clarity of Sascha John's decision. The trio of CEOs, including Sascha John, Erika Tertilt, and Dr. Christian von Klitzing, had steered the healthcare giant through challenging times and strategic shifts with caution and vigor.

Under Sascha John's leadership, the somatic Alexianer group Rhineland expanded across eight hospital locations and numerous ancillary facilities. He also oversaw psychiatry, rehabilitation, children, and youth welfare groups in Rhineland-Palatinate, Rhineland, and Westphalia. His responsibilities extended to personnel, legal, tertiary, business areas of rehabilitation, children, and youth welfare, and outpatient care from Münster.

Sascha John's tenure saw notable accomplishments like the successful restructuring of the Evangelical Hospital in Münster and the consolidation of cleaning and catering areas into a joint holding company. In the personnel department, he introduced a uniform, group-wide HR software, modernizing and streamlining operations for the Alexianers.

Though Sascha John's departure leaves a vacuum, the existing management structure will cover his former responsibilities in the interim. Dr. Hartmut Beiker remains hopeful about filling the vacancy and announcing a successor soon.

The Alexianer Group, a leading confessional healthcare and social economy company in Germany, operates across five groups, eight dioceses, and six federal states. With about 34,000 employees under its banner, the Group runs somatic and psychiatric hospitals, medical care centers, senior care facilities, rehabilitation centers, and youth welfare facilities. Alexianer GmbH acts as the corporate group's common roof, upholding the heritage of the 800-year-old order of the Alexianer Brothers and other orders. The Group recorded a turnover of around €2 billion in 2023.
