Gas Supply South Germany Donates Plush Toys to DRK District Association Pforzheim-Enzkreis

In a heartwarming gesture, Gas Supply South Germany (Gasversorgung Süddeutschland) has donated 120 plush dragons to the DRK district association Pforzheim-Enzkreis. The plush toys, worth 3,000 Euros, are intended to provide comfort and distraction for children during emergencies.

The donation was made to the DRK, a local branch of the German Red Cross that offers emergency services and social aid in the Pforzheim and Enzkreis region. The plush dragons will be distributed among the stations in Pforzheim, Mühlacker, Neuenbürg, Tiefenbronn, Remchingen, and Wimsheim.

The plush toys serve as a calming tool, helping to reduce anxiety and provide comfort to children who may experience significant fear and stress during emergencies. The DRK’s emergency services teams are often the first responders in accidents and medical emergencies where children are involved, and having plush dragons as part of their aid kit enables personnel to offer immediate comfort.

The donation from Gas Supply South Germany highlights the company's corporate social responsibility and strengthens community relations between the gas utility company and local emergency services. It also raises awareness about the emotional needs of children in emergencies among the public and responder organizations.

The plush dragons are not the first donation from Gas Supply South Germany. However, the recipient and purpose of a previous donation of plush dragons remain unclear.

The DRK district association Pforzheim-Enzkreis handles a variety of injuries and illnesses daily, and special sensitivity and sometimes extraordinary courage are required when caring for children. In July alone, there were 24 instances of the alarm code "Fever Seizure" at the DRK district association, a condition that primarily affects babies and young children.

The handover of the plush toys was carried out by René Lechner from the Sales & Marketing department at GVS, and was received by Rescue Service Director Jochen Irion and his deputy Thomas Göttenauer at Pforzheim's main rescue station.

Despite the absence of information regarding the previous donation, this latest gesture from Gas Supply South Germany underscores the importance of businesses supporting emergency services beyond operational funding—through thoughtful contributions that address the psychological well-being of vulnerable victims, especially children. This initiative by Gas Supply South Germany helps the DRK in Pforzheim-Enzkreis to provide compassionate care and supports their mission of holistic emergency response.
