Struggling to cope with a loved one's dementia? Then mark your calendars! A freshly formed support group is making waves at the Quirlsberg Health Campus.

Here's a program from EVK

Navigating dementia isn't just tiresome for the individuals suffering from it, but it presses the limits of their families and companions as well. As behavior changes, help seeks rises, and the tireless struggle to preserve abilities takes its toll, caregivers can find themselves drowning under the emotional and physical weight.

For whom is this group?

To lighten the burden on families coping with dementia and encourage open dialogue, a new support group has sprung up at the Quirlsberg Health Campus. It's specifically for partners, family members, friends, or other close individuals who are supporting or caring for dementia patients - regardless of the disease's stage. The primary focus is offering opportunities to discuss personal experiences in a safe environment.

Meetings happen on the 4th Wednesday of each month from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM in the rooms of the Clinic for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy, and Psychosomatic Medicine of the Evangelical Hospital Bergisch Gladbach, Room 133 (1st floor), Ferrenbergstraße 24, 51465 Bergisch Gladbach. Confirm your attendance by reaching out to Simone Kühn at Tel.: 02202 / 122 5901 or email her at [email protected].

The group offers a venue for voicing questions, concerns, and practical tips, as well as a base for mutual support and refining strategies for coping with the disease.

For inquiries about other self-help groups or all things related to self-help, reach out to Daniela Markwart from the Coordination Office for Self-Help Groups at the Quirlsberg Health Campus through email: [email protected].
