The investigation into the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) and its head, David Daleiden, continues in several states, including California, where the office of Attorney General Kamala Harris (D) is looking into potential criminal activity.

The controversy began in September 2015 when CMP announced they would plead the fifth in the case, but the judge did not allow it. The CMP had released a series of "sting" videos that reportedly showed some underhanded dealings at Planned Parenthood. These videos sparked widespread controversy and criticism.

The National Abortion Federation (NAF) filed a lawsuit against CMP in July 2015, alleging that Daleiden and CMP engaged in a long-running criminal conspiracy. The NAF's president, Vicki Saporta, applauded the raid on Daleiden's home and expressed support for a thorough investigation. Erica Sackin, spokeswoman for Planned Parenthood, also lauded the ongoing investigation.

On April 6, 2016, the California Department of Justice raided Daleiden's home to seize hard drives and computers for evidence. Daleiden, an anti-choice activist, accused Harris of mounting a politically oriented offense against him.

As of August 2025, there is no publicly available information regarding the current status of the investigation into CMP or the seizure of hard drives and computers from Daleiden's home. The latest sources do not mention any developments related to this matter.

It should be noted that Daleiden might face charges related to fraud, and his First Amendment rights might be difficult to vindicate given these potential charges. The forced-birthers have criticized the raid, describing it as "fascism" and the like.

For the most up-to-date details on this specific investigation, it may be necessary to check specialized news outlets or legal databases focused on investigatory or legal proceedings involving Daleiden or CMP. The CMP is also facing consequences following the lawsuit by the NAF. The outcome of this ongoing investigation is yet to be seen.
