Bonn Police Announce Senior Citizen Pedelec Course in October - Sign Up Today!
The Bonn Police have announced a two-day course aimed at promoting safe e-bike usage among senior citizens. The initiative comes in response to a high number of e-bike accidents involving this demographic within the city. Last year, 263 e-bike riders were involved in accidents within the Bonn Police's jurisdiction, with around 25% of these incidents involving senior citizens. This concerning statistic has prompted the authorities to take action. The course, which will be held on October 15th and 17th, 2025, will take place at the Landgrabenweg 150, 53227 Bonn (Parking lot at the Skater Park). Each session will run from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The curriculum covers essential topics such as safe handling of e-bikes, proper starting and braking techniques, tips for traffic safety, and practical riding exercises. The focus is on the enjoyment of riding and mutual support, without any pressure to perform. The Bonn Police have partnered with the ÖAMTC (Austrian Automobile, Motorcycle and Touring Club) for this initiative. The training will take place at the ÖAMTC base in Urfahr, Linz, and will provide participants with practical skills in a protected environment to help them gain confidence riding e-bikes.
