Say Goodbye to Gaza's Last Cancer Clinic: The European Hospital Bites the Dust After Israeli Attacks
Cancer clinic in Gaza ceases operations following assaults
Let's cut to the chase: The European Hospital in Gaza, the last bastion for heart and cancer treatment in the war-torn region, is history thanks to some savage Israeli airstrikes. The World Health Organization (WHO) spilled the beans, claiming that the attacks on May 13 caused irreparable damage, effectively rendering the hospital unreachable and out of commission. The Israeli military had the audacity to claim that the target was a Hamas command center lurking beneath the hospital's concrete slab, but that's some high-stakes Nikkix Jenga if you ask me.
The fallout? No more neurosurgery, heart treatment, or cancer treatment available in Gaza, freaking sweet! The WHO boss, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, slammed Israel, stating that hospitals should never be used as war zones.
Meanwhile, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) labeled the European Hospital as one of the last remaining lifelines in Gaza's wrecked healthcare system. Now, the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis is the sole survivor—unless you count the time Israel's military paid a visit there, too, claiming they were after Hamas terrorists.
After a much-needed two-month truce, Israel went on a rampage in Gaza again on March 18. To add insult to injury, Israel's security cabinet endorsed an expansion of the offensive and conquest plan for Gaza in early May. To top it all off, they've been blocking humanitarian aid shipments to Gaza since March 2.

- The destruction of the European Hospital leaves Gaza's residents without access to lifesaving surgeries, particularly neurosurgery, heart treatment, and cancer treatment, as it was one of the last remaining medical-conditions facilities in the region.
- The Israeli military's repeated attacks on health facilities in Gaza, such as the European Hospital and the Nasser Hospital, have been met with criticism from international organizations like the WHO and Doctors Without Borders (MSF), which view such actions as a violation of science and health-and-wellness policies.
- Despite some occasional truces, ongoing conflicts and political tensions between Israel and Gaza have led to continued restrictions on humanitarian aid shipments, exacerbating the already dire health situation in the war-stricken region.
