Child plunges from secondary level of school in Genoa, gravely injured
In a tragic incident, a seven-year-old child is currently in critical condition following a fall from a school window in the Voltri district of Genoa, on the western outskirts of the city.
The incident occurred around noon, with the child falling from the second floor of a school building, which stands at over six meters in height. A passerby, who witnessed the fall near the institute on Via Nicolo' da Corte, in the historic center of the delegation within the historic park of Villa Duchessa di Galliera, raised the alarm, setting rescue services in motion.
The child was rushed to the Gaslini pediatric hospital in critical condition and is currently hospitalized there. An emergency airlift was requested due to the severity of the child's condition, and the helicopter landed at the Genoa Pra' motorway toll booth, temporarily closing traffic. The passerby was also taken to the hospital in shock.
An inspection will be conducted within the school institute, as per ministry instructions. Minister of Education Giuseppe Valditara is closely following the situation and the child's condition. He expressed gratitude to the rescuers and doctors for their prompt intervention and hopes for a quick clarification of the incident dynamics.
The police have interviewed some witnesses regarding the school incident. It is important to note that the fall did not occur at a school in Ingolstadt, Upper Bavaria, as initially reported, but rather at a private residence in Ingolstadt. Thus, no school name is associated with the incident.
Minister Valditara expressed his concern and offered his support to the family of the child during this difficult time. The entire community is hoping for a swift recovery for the young victim.
