City Run Event: Teenagers surpass personal boundaries
In the heart of Dietzenbach, a small city in Germany, a remarkable event took place on September 21st. The Dietzenbach City Run, organised by the local Lions Club, saw the participation of a group of inspiring young individuals.
Emirhan, Serhat, and Malte, all part of the Street Workout group of the mobile youth counseling "Social Work in the Spessart Quarter", crossed the finish line together, having completed the four-kilometer long fun run in just over 47 minutes.
Their accomplishment was met with applause and praise from all present, including René Bacher, the Social Commissioner. Bacher commended the trio for their great performance and mutual support during the run, highlighting the importance of making the success stories of "hidden champions" visible.
For Emirhan, the relief and satisfaction were palpable as he crossed the finish line. Serhat, who faced a personal challenge due to a physical impairment, viewed his participation as a personal triumph, emphasizing that the minutes don't matter but finishing the challenge does.
Malte Althoff, the youth worker overseeing the Street Workout group, accompanied Serhat and Emirhan throughout the run, providing encouragement and support.
Both Emirhan and Serhat expressed their desire to participate in the Dietzenbach City Run again next year, with the goal of improving further. Emirhan plans to train regularly to optimize his time, while Serhat hopes to improve his endurance.
Their participation in the run serves as a testament that it's not about being the fastest, but about facing challenges and finishing. Bacher stated that, despite their different limitations, the run can feel like a "world trip" but together, they are strong and can achieve a lot.
The local sports club or community running group supported the two boys during their first participation, and the "Street Workout" group meets regularly for calisthenics exercises, a form of physical training using body weight to strengthen team spirit.
The Dietzenbach City Run was not just a race, but a celebration of determination, camaraderie, and personal growth. The stories of Emirhan, Serhat, and Malte serve as a beacon of inspiration for others, showing that with perseverance and support, anyone can overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
