Collaboration between Reframe Cancer and Benenden Health Underway
In a significant move to improve cancer care for working adults, Reframe Cancer has partnered with Benenden Health. This collaboration aims to make specialist cancer support services accessible to the 870,000 Benenden Health members, regardless of whether their employer provides a private medical insurance (PMI) policy.
The partnership extends cancer care accessibility beyond traditional PMI schemes, addressing a crucial barrier for working adults without company PMI coverage. Members will now have access to Reframe Cancer's CQC regulated clinical cancer services, including personalized assistance with managing appointments, transport, and return-to-work planning.
The collaboration recognizes cancer as a long-term, manageable condition and provides ongoing clinical and practical support, enabling better management of cancer alongside work commitments. Reframe Cancer's extensive online resources on cancer awareness and preventative measures are also available to members.
In addition to clinical support, members will have access to a dedicated cancer nurse specialist for information and guidance. The partnership aligns with Benenden Health's mission to make private healthcare accessible to all, and Reframe Cancer's commitment to providing an affordable cancer care and navigation solution.
Meanwhile, Benenden Health is upgrading its online services by replacing its incumbent infrastructure with a hybrid cloud and disaster recovery solution from Node4. This move is anticipated to ease the pressure on the NHS, which currently faces a backlog of nearly 10,000 referrals due to the pandemic, and 4.7 million fewer people were referred for routine hospital care in the first eight months of 2020 compared to the previous year.
As interest in private healthcare surges due to ongoing strikes and treatment delays in the NHS, this partnership could potentially alleviate the pressure on the public healthcare system during this challenging time. The Health Foundation's latest research suggests this trend, indicating a growing demand for alternative healthcare solutions.
Reframe Cancer's CQC registration allows them to provide clinical excellence, data, evidence, and reporting as part of the cancer pathway. Almost 60% of patients are waiting in excess of 18 weeks to start treatment, highlighting the need for comprehensive cancer care services like those offered by Reframe Cancer.
With the easing of lockdown rules and widespread vaccination rollouts, it is hoped that this partnership will provide timely and much-needed support to those affected by cancer, ensuring they receive the care and guidance they need to manage their condition effectively.
- The partnership between Reframe Cancer and Benenden Health is not only aimed at improving cancer care for working adults, but also focuses on enhancing their overall health-and-wellness by providing access to extended resources on cancer awareness and preventative measures.
- The collaboration recognizes cancer as a long-term, manageable medical-condition, and by providing ongoing clinical and practical support, it aims to help individuals manage their condition while maintaining their wellbeing and finance, without being adversely affected by work commitments.
- In line with Benenden Health's mission to make private healthcare accessible to all, and Reframe Cancer's commitment to providing an affordable cancer care solution, the partnership also aims to fill the gap for working adults without company PMI coverage in accessing specialist cancer support services.
- As the demand for alternative healthcare solutions, such as those provided by Reframe Cancer, increases due to ongoing challenges with the NHS, this partnership could potentially help redirect resources and alleviate the burden on the public healthcare system, while ensuring timely and much-needed support for those affected by cancer during this critical time.
