Hey there! Ever wondered what it feels like to live with dementia? Well, a student from Dresden, Hendrik Schulke, has crafted an intriguing game that offers just that. Dubbed "Dementi," this memory game will give you a glimpse of the mental turmoil that dementia patients experience daily.

The game, available through Apple, features 16 images. But here's the kicker: every third move, the images on the board swap places. Sounds straightforward, right? But hold on! This little twist results in users turning over the wrong image, replicating the confusion and disorientation that dementia patients often face.

Inspired by his grandmother's dementia diagnosis, Schulke aimed to create a game that would challenge players while provoking empathy and understanding. He wanted users to feel the frustration of trying (and failing) to remember where they placed that elusive image. As he put it, "You think you're the problem, but it only happens once."

Schulke, a 25-year-old master's student in media informatics, developed "Dementi" during his semester abroad in Vietnam. Impressed by the app's innovative concept, Apple CEO Tim Cook gave it a shout-out at the start of their WWDC developer conference. Cook praised the app for its ability to foster empathy and promote a better understanding among people.

If you're intrigued and keen to give it a go, head over to the App Store on your iPhone or iPad and download "Dementi" today. It's more than just a game—it's an eye-opening experience!
