Regensburg, September 12, 2025 — A group of around 30 senior and disability commissioners from the Regensburg district embarked on an outing to Weiden, Upper Palatinate, organized by the department of assistance in difficult life situations - Care Support Point Plus. The outing was part of the county council's efforts to foster cooperation and support for the commissioners in their work.

The day began at the county council office in Regensburg, where the group gathered before setting off on their journey. The outing was a crucial part of the cooperation between the county council and the local senior commissioners, aiming to learn about the needs on site and to bring the county council's offer to the region.

Upon arrival in Weiden, the group received a historical city tour, offering insights into the city's rich history. The culinary needs of the participants were taken care of by the team of the "Ratskeller Weiden" restaurant. After lunch, participants had free time to visit Seltmann Porcelain or Witt Weiden factory outlets or stroll through the old town of Weiden.

County Councilor Tanja Schweiger, the district administrator of Regensburg, expressed her gratitude to the commissioners for their volunteer service. She highlighted the crucial role they play in ensuring the well-being and inclusion of older and disabled persons in the community. The commissioners, who are voluntary representatives taking care of all matters related to senior policy, inclusion, and barrier-free access in their communities, work with great dedication and passion to enable and expand the participation opportunities of older and disabled persons in society.

As the day drew to a close, the group returned safely to the county council office in Regensburg by 6 p.m., concluding an eventful and relaxed day. The outing aimed to provide a break from their usual duties and to strengthen the bonds between the commissioners and the county council, fostering a spirit of collaboration and support.
