Exploring the Serious and Humorous Aspects of Rock Star Paul Rodgers, Known for his Troublemaker Image in the Band Bad Company
Fresh Interview with Rock Legend Paul Rodgers: Spirituality, Super Groups, and Humorous Tales
In the concluding segment of our talk with classic rock maestro Paul Rodgers, we dive deeper into his spiritual journey, experiences with super groups, and share a laugh or two.
Jim Clash: Let's talk about your spiritual side. You mentioned your connection to spirituality during our previous chats. Can you share more about your beliefs and experiences?
Paul Rodgers: Well, Jim, I've been on a spiritual path for quite some time now. I believe that the divinity within us all is the universe itself. It's the sum of all consciousness, an all-encompassing entity that transcends traditional notions of religion.
Clash: It's fascinating. Do you ever find yourself engaging in prayer?
Rodgers: Indeed, I do. I pray for inspiration, most notably during my time with The Changels choir. While working with them, I had a profound conversation with one of the boys about the nature of existence [see my previous interview for context].
Clash: Speaking of The Changels, could we delve into some humorous stories from your tours?

Rodgers: Oh, absolutely! During the Queen Plus Paul Rodgers tour, we were always pulling pranks. One time, my wife convinced Queen's manager, Jim Beach, that I was pining for the 'good old days' with Freddie [Mercury]. She set up a rather extravagant scene in our hotel room; I was lounging on a chaise lounge, wearing a feather boa that she'd bought [laughs]. Jim walked in, and my wife started feeding me grapes. He thought I was trying to channel my inner Freddie! Needless to say, he was alarmed and begged me to remove the boa before I hit the stage [laughs].
Clash: Your stories never disappoint, Paul! You were also a part of The Firm, a short-lived super group with Jimmy Page, and you toured with Blind Faith. Any memorable anecdotes from those times?
Rodgers: The Blind Faith tour was quite the experience. I got to witness Ginger Baker, the drummer, in action firsthand. He had this remarkable ability to throw his drumsticks at the audience during performances, and his aim was impeccable! One night, I was standing by the side of the stage, and he nearly hit me with a stick. But he didn't, thank goodness [laughs].
Clash: Like Ginger, you had your share of rebellious spirit in your youth. But who is the real Paul Rodgers deep down?
Rodgers: I've always been searching, trying to figure out who I truly am. But I'm focusing on my spirituality now, understanding that it's my spiritual essence that truly defines me. And in uncovering this truth, I've discovered that my purpose is to remain rooted in that spirituality, to understand that I am an integral part of the universe.
In the realm of entertainment, Paul Rodgers shared a tale from his time with the short-lived super group The Firm, reminiscing about the precision of Ginger Baker's drumstick-tossing antics during the Blind Faith tour [music]. As our conversation delved into his spirituality, Rodgers spoke about his belief in the divinity within all, finding common ground with modern science [science, spirituality]. Moving beyond classic rock, Rodgers also touched upon the importance of maintaining health and wellness, noting the integral role it plays in his daily life [health-and-wellness].
