Yekaterinburg, the fourth-largest city in Russia, recently hosted its annual "City of Health" festival, an event dedicated to promoting health awareness and a healthy lifestyle among residents of the Ural region. This year marked the second time the festival was held, as part of the national "Healthy Lifestyle" project.

The festival, which took place in Yekaterinburg's Mayakovsky Park, featured a wide range of activities aimed at fostering a culture of wellness in the region. Svetlana Philippova, Deputy Minister of Health of Sverdlovsk Oblast, and Konstantin Shchekchenko, Deputy Mayor of Yekaterinburg, laid symbolic foundation stones for the event, underscoring its importance.

One of the key aspects of the festival was the provision of free medical screenings and consultations from various specialists. Over 1,300 people were examined during the festival, and individual consultations with dietitians and clinical psychologists were added this year. Visitors could undergo various medical check-ups, including fluorography, dermatological, dental, ophthalmological, and mammography check-ups, have their blood pressure and sugar levels measured, and take an HIV express test.

In addition to medical services, the festival offered health and wellness workshops focusing on nutrition, physical activity, mental health, and disease prevention. Fitness and sports activities, such as group exercises, demonstrations, and challenges, were also available to motivate physical activity. Healthy food fairs showcased nutritious local food options, and family and children’s health programs aimed at fostering healthy habits from a young age.

The festival served as a key platform to engage the community proactively in health preservation and disease prevention, significantly raising public awareness about lifestyle-related health issues among Ural residents. It also facilitated access to healthcare services and expert advice in a festive and accessible setting.

The "City of Health" festival was not the only health-focused event in Yekaterinburg. The children's and family festival in the Literary Quarter of Yekaterinburg, also in anticipation of Family, Love, and Fidelity Day, was previously reported by "Regional Newspaper." In the "Eco Zone," visitors learned to grow microgreens and some took home new plants.

The day ended with a prize draw, with the Srodny family winning the main prize, a family vacation in the "Lipovka" health resort. The Ural capital has already become one of the leaders among million-plus cities in the number of fitness centers, further emphasising its commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle.

As the festival approaches each year, local Yekaterinburg municipal or health department announcements or official event websites provide the most precise details about the event, including exact dates, new programs, or specific services offered.
