Aktobe cracks down on mask-skippers, racking up fines

Gulbanu Dauletova, deputy head of the department, told reporters that a total of 647 fines amounting to over 81 million tenge have been issued under Article 425 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan. A staggering 156 fines, totaling 10.9 million tenge, have been doled out for individuals flouting mask-wearing rules.
"The current situation shows that some residents of the region are blatantly ignoring the decree of the sanitary doctor," Dauletova said. "156 fines totaling 10.9 million tenge have been imposed on Aktobe residents for not wearing masks in public places and public transport. The prohibition on family events continues, with 24 businesses facing fines totaling 6.9 million tenge for hosting them."
So what do Aktobe residents need to do to avoid getting a visit from the mask police?
