Scarborough Muslim Community Joins Forces with Hospital Foundation for 'It's Our Time' Campaign
The Scarborough and Rouge Hospital Foundation has launched a new campaign, 'It's Our Time', with the support of the Scarborough Muslim Community. The initiative aims to raise $90 million for four priority projects at the hospital, ensuring top-quality medical care for the diverse Scarborough community.

The purpose of the campaign is to raise financial support for critical expansions and improvements at the Scarborough and Rouge Hospital. This includes upgrading medical equipment, expanding patient care facilities, and supporting specialized healthcare programs. Launch Event and Upcoming Events
The launch event for the campaign was held at the Centenary site of the Scarborough and Rouge Hospital, attended by leaders of Muslim organizations and mosques in Scarborough, as well as civic leaders, politicians, and hospital officials. Over $100,000 was pledged by organizations and mosques at the event.
One of the upcoming events for the campaign is the 2018 Annual Family Day Walkathon, organized by The Scarborough Muslim Community and Friends of SRH Foundation. Guy Bonnell, Vice President, Community Development of SRH Foundation, expressed pleasure in partnering with the Scarborough Muslim Community for this event. The walkathon will take place on February 19, 2018.
Priority Projects
The new Emergency Department at Centenary, expansion of the Emergency Department at Birchmount, a new Medical Imaging and Vascular Centre at the General, and HealthINC are the four priority projects of the 'It's Our Time' campaign.
Importance of Charitable Work
In his keynote address, Dr. Hamid Slimi, President of Faith of Life Network and Imam at Sayeda Khadija Centre, emphasized the importance of making charitable work more public and showcasing good works in the mainstream. Imam Badat, Imam of the Islamic Foundation, commended the mosques and organizations for joining hands in support of the hospitals, noting that it is "our civic and Islamic duty" to support hospitals in maintaining state-of-the-art service and equipment.
The 'It's Our Time' campaign reflects a broader trend of local communities taking active roles in supporting healthcare institutions, emphasizing the importance of collective action in achieving sustainable improvements in medical services. The goal of the campaign is to raise $250,000 over the next five years.
