Hanover School Respiratory Irritation Incident: Substance Unidentified

Emergency services were called to a vocational school in Hanover's Kleefeld district this morning after students and teachers reported respiratory irritation. The incident, which occurred around 09:30, involved an unidentified liquid in a classroom on Kirchroder Straße. Despite extensive efforts, the substance could not be identified.

The Hannover Fire Department, along with an ambulance, rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they found a student complaining of respiratory irritation due to an unknown liquid. The fire department's special hazardous materials unit conducted measurements and analyses but was unable to identify the substance.

The rescue service examined a total of 14 people, including 11 students and 3 teachers. One teacher was classified as slightly injured but did not require hospitalization. Other people present in the classroom also reported respiratory irritation, leading to additional emergency services being called. Around 30 firefighters and several vehicles were on site until approximately 11:30 to ensure any further danger was ruled out. The school operation was not further affected.

The police have taken over the further investigations to identify the unknown substance. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of swift action and thorough examination in such situations. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported, and the school operation continued without disruption.
