"Yep, it's the real deal — got hit by a car while training yesterday," the 51-year-old shared with his fans, showered with well-wishes. sporting a stiff thumb's up from his hospital bed, Ol' Ullrich promised he's in capable hands on the road to recovery.

Details on the nature and extent of the injuries remain scarce as Ullrich plans to delve deeper in his podcast, Ulle & Rick, with fellow cyclist Rick Zabel. On Friday, Eurosport reported, citing Ullrich's management, that the Man of Merdingen had suffered a cracked collarbone, some bruises, and a handful of road rash.

The mishap occurred close to home in Baden-Württemberg, forcing Ullrich to cancel his scheduled weekend TV appearances at Eurosport, where he was set to comment on the Giro d'Italia stages. But fret not, fans! Ullrich announced he'll be pedaling his way to Bad Dürrheim next weekend for his very own Jan Ullrich Cycling Festival, with some starry-eyed pals for good measure, including his arch-rival-turned-bro Lance Armstrong.
