ICU and CPR Collaborate to Introduce 'CRITICAL MISSION: Aiming for a Pandemic-Resistant India by 2047'

A national, one-day conference titled "Mission Critical: Envisioning Pandemic-Ready India by 2047" is set to take place on October 9, with the aim of co-developing an actionable roadmap for India's long-term pandemic preparedness and critical care insurance resilience by 2047.

The conference, organized by Mission ICU and Compassionate Patient Response (CPR), has a long-term vision of building healthcare systems that are inclusive, accessible, and future-ready. The expected outcome is the creation of the National 2047 Pandemic Preparedness Roadmap, linked to the year marking 100 years of India's independence.

The main theme of the conference is to address critical pillars of preparedness, including accessible critical care infrastructure, disease surveillance, data integration, resilient healthcare systems, healthcare innovation, equitable access to care, and coordinated governance.

Mission ICU, co-founded by Dr. Ashwin Naik, Maanoj Shah, and Dr. Edmond Fernandes, has already deployed 220 ICU beds in 22 locations across India, with a strong focus on upgrading rural healthcare infrastructure. On the other hand, CPR, co-founded by Dr. Satya Garimella and Krishna Kottapalli, identifies hospitals in need and mobilizes resources to donate critical care infrastructure for underprivileged communities in semi-urban and rural India.

One of the notable achievements of this partnership is the equipping of Rangaraya Hospital in Andhra Pradesh with critical care infrastructure, as part of their ongoing efforts to transform rural India's healthcare landscape. AIIMS Bibinagar (Telangana) and Samarpan Children's Hospital (Maharashtra) are examples of hospitals that have also received critical care infrastructure from CPR.

The conference will bring together policymakers, healthcare leaders, CSR heads, researchers, and innovators to discuss and strategise on the critical pillars of pandemic preparedness. Mission ICU and CPR aim to engage stakeholders and participants beyond the event, working closely with government agencies, civil society organizations, and funding bodies to ensure that the recommendations lead to actionable interventions.

The partnership between Mission ICU and CPR aims to bridge gaps in lifesaving healthcare facilities for underserved populations, contributing significantly to India's healthcare infrastructure and preparedness for future pandemics. The "Mission Critical: Envisioning Pandemic-Ready India by 2047" conference is a significant step towards achieving this goal.
