In the year 2024, job-related stress reached an all-time high, yet employees continue to grapple with thriving in their work environments.
The ADP Research's People at Work 2025 report series offers a comprehensive analysis of worker sentiment across multiple global regions, providing insights into various aspects of employment, including stress levels, thriving rates, and feelings of judgment in the workplace.
According to the report, the Middle East and Africa has the highest percentage of workers feeling judged (36%), while South Korea has the smallest percentage of thriving workers (15%). Europe, on the other hand, has the highest percentage of workers feeling overloaded (19%).
In Asia-Pacific, Thailand and Japan both have over 14% of workers affected by chronic workplace stress in 2024, while South Africa and China report the lowest figures at 3%. Interestingly, Poland has a notably high level of thriving workers (32%) and the least percentage of workers feeling overloaded (13%).
Europe and Latin America share similar thriving rates, with Poland and Spain leading the pack at 31% and 32% respectively. However, Latin America has the highest percentage of workers thriving (34%) compared to North America (23%).
Singapore has the biggest increase in the share of thriving workers (26%), while China exhibits the largest share of thriving workers (40%). On the other hand, the Middle East and Africa also has the largest share of workers feeling monitored by their managers (42%).
Among workers with minimal stress (once per week or less), 11% report feeling overloaded, while 34% say they are thriving. Conversely, among workers experiencing daily stress, nearly 32% report feeling overloaded, while only 7% describe themselves as thriving.
In terms of feelings of judgment, Latin America has the lowest figure at 29%. Meanwhile, Sweden and Czechia have the highest percentage of workers feeling overloaded (24% and 23% respectively). France has the lowest percentage of workers thriving (20%).
