Japan's Flu Season Starts Early, Tokyo and Fukuoka Exceed Epidemic Threshold
Japan has officially entered the influenza season, marking the second-earliest start in two decades. The number of flu patients stood at 1.04 per institution in the week ending Sunday.
The influenza epidemic threshold, set at 1.0 per institution, was exceeded in several prefectures. Tokyo and Fukuoka reported 1.96 and 1.55 patients per institution, respectively. Okinawa had the highest count at 8.98, while Tottori saw the smallest at 0.03.
In Germany, the Integrative Medical Practice reported no influenza cases as of January 24, 2025, indicating very low flu patient numbers in their region.
With the influenza season underway, health authorities urge vigilance. The epidemic threshold has been exceeded in multiple prefectures, highlighting the need for preventive measures and prompt medical attention if symptoms arise.
