Kentucky State University has seen a significant improvement in student mental health, according to the Healthy Minds Network's annual study for 2024-2025. The university reported a decrease in depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts among its students.
The study found that moderate-to-severe anxiety symptoms dropped from 37% in 2022 to 32% in 2025, marking a notable reduction. Similarly, suicidal ideation rates fell from 15% in 2022 to 11% in 2025. These positive trends align with the broader findings from the University of Michigan's Healthy Minds Study, which reported falling reports of depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation among college students for the third consecutive year.
Eric Voishoski, statistician for the Healthy Minds Network, attributed these results to a consistent downward trend. In the 2024-2025 study, the rates of reported depression symptoms decreased to 18%, down from 23% in 2022.
