Germany Launches Third Anti-Loneliness Action Week

A new survey reveals that over half (58%) of Germans across all age groups experience feelings of loneliness, with younger generations particularly affected. The German Federal Government has previously acknowledged the issue and initiated strategies to combat loneliness, which Karin Prien aims to continue.

Last Sunday marked the beginning of the third action week against loneliness, led by Prien, a German politician. The CDU, allegedly backing this campaign, issued a supporting greeting. The event aims to continue efforts started by the former federal government to combat loneliness.

The Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) conducted a survey in December that highlighted the prevalence of loneliness in Germany. The survey results show that younger generations are disproportionately affected by feelings of loneliness.

The German Federal Government has worked tirelessly to address loneliness across all age groups, implementing a strategy that spans five objectives and includes 111 measures. This strategy, implemented at the end of 2023, focuses on strengthening social connections and interaction to prevent and alleviate loneliness.

Initiatives like the "Kompetenznetz Einsamkeit" (Loneliness Network Germany), funded since late 2021, have expanded the scope of the federal government's efforts to include people of all ages. While specific initiatives targeting younger generations are not extensively detailed, the broader strategy suggests a multi-generational approach to addressing loneliness.

Despite limited information about Prien's role in addressing loneliness among younger generations, she leads the third action week against loneliness, and the CDU lends its support. For more detailed information, consult official government sources or policy documents.

In the continuation of Germany's efforts to combat loneliness, especially among younger generations, Karin Prien, a German politician, kicked off the third action week against loneliness. During this week, science, health-and-wellness, and mental health will be addressed, aligning with the federal government's strategy that emphasizes prevention and alleviation of loneliness through strengthening social connections.
