Man Dies After Being Pulled into MRI Machine in New York
A tragic incident occurred at Nassau Open MRI in New York on Wednesday afternoon. A 61-year-old man lost his life after being pulled into an MRI machine by a weight-training chain around his neck. This is the second fatality related to an MRI machine in New York, following a similar incident in 2001.
The man's wife, Adrienne Jones-McAllister, was midway through an MRI scan when she requested her husband's assistance to help her off the table. Unaware of the machine's powerful magnetic force, he entered the room. The metallic chain he was wearing around his neck was pulled towards the machine, dragging him in and causing him to strike the MRI. He went limp immediately.
Emergency services arrived promptly and managed to free the man from the machine. However, he suffered multiple heart attacks and was later pronounced dead on Thursday afternoon. The identity of the deceased has not been publicly disclosed, and the police force involved in the case has not been identified.
This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers posed by MRI machines. The strong magnetic fields can attract metallic objects, posing a risk to anyone wearing such items near the machine. Authorities are yet to comment on the specifics of the case, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the incident.
