Man sustains stab wounds in park encounter; currently hospitalized.
Last night, a shocking incident unfolded in Berlin's Volkspark Hasenheide in Kreuzberg. A 44-year-old man was viciously attacked by an unknown man, leaving him with several life-threatening stab and cut wounds.
The attack occurred around 00:25, and the unknown assailant allegedly took out a knife during their encounter and stabbed the victim multiple times in the upper body. The victim and the unknown man had a prior encounter on a park bench before the attack.
Immediately after the incident, a passerby noticed the injured man and dialed the emergency services' number. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene and transported the victim to the nearest general hospital. Upon arrival, immediate surgery was required to save his life.
The victim is currently receiving treatment at the hospital, and the investigation into this heinous crime is being led by a specialized detective unit from Police Directorate 5 (City). So far, the unidentified perpetrator has not been apprehended, and he fled the scene after the stabbing.
