In the upcoming elections on October 12, Marco Almeida, head of the PSD/IL/PAN list, has outlined his vision for the municipality of Sintra. Almeida, a candidate for the Sintra Chamber, has expressed his commitment to several key areas, including health, public transport, and municipal security.

Almeida has emphasised the importance of public transport for mobility, stating that it is essential for the future of Sintra. He has also made it clear that the A16 highway will not be free if he is elected, suggesting that the funds for tolls could be used to construct the Western Circular to Cacém and to strengthen the Metropolitan Carris schedules and circuits.

In the health sector, Almeida has expressed concern about the current situation in Sintra, referring to it as a "total political commitment mess." He has promised to "take care of health, starting to interfere," and has announced that they are preparing a health plan to provide family doctors to the 150,000 people in Sintra who currently do not have one. Almeida has also criticised the current executive for building equipment without requiring the placement of doctors, pushing "the management to the government" in the health area.

Cleanliness in the municipality of Sintra is another area of concern for Almeida, who has criticised the lack of cleanliness in the town. He has promised to invest in security for the municipality to address this issue.

Almeida has also pledged to build 10 automated silos in various locations around Sintra, including Casal do Cotão, São Marcos, Monte Abraão, and Algueirão. This initiative is aimed at improving the municipality's infrastructure and economic development.

Joining Almeida in the race for the Sintra Chamber are Ana Mendes Godinho, Pedro Ventura, Maurício Rodrigues, Rita Matias, Tânia Russo, and Júlio Gourgel Ferreira. The current executive, presided by Básilio Horta, is composed of five members of the PS, three of the PSD, one of the CDS-PP, one of the CDU, one independent (ex-Chega), and cannot run again due to term limits.

Isaltino Morais, the president of the neighbouring municipality of Oeiras, has praised Almeida's qualifications to be the next president of the chamber in Sintra. Morais believes in intermunicipal relations and their potential to generate wealth, create jobs, and improve the quality of life of municipalities.

In a surprising move, Almeida has suggested that Ana Mendes Godinho present a proposal for the exemption of tolls in the Republic Assembly. This proposal, if accepted, could have significant implications for the future of Sintra's transport infrastructure.

As the elections approach, Almeida has shown his support for the coalition between PS and CDU to win the next Sintra city council election. This coalition could potentially lead to a shift in power in the municipality and a new direction for Sintra's future.

In conclusion, Marco Almeida has outlined a clear vision for the future of Sintra, focusing on health, public transport, and municipal security. With the elections just around the corner, it remains to be seen whether Almeida and his coalition will be successful in their bid to take control of the Sintra Chamber.
