As the lunch hour struck, Navin Chaudhary, a fledgling doctor, was relishing his meal when a thunderous bang rocked his senses. Looking up from the ground, the horrifying sight of the Air India plane’s tail cone dangling from the raging inferno spurred him, along with fellow medical students, into action. “There was fire, and many were injured,” Chaudhary recounted. Feeling miraculously saved, he swiftly directed his focus towards the hospital’s intensive care unit - a haven for the critically injured, most of whom had suffered burns.
“I felt that as a doctor, I could save someone’s life,” Chaudhary asserted. “I was safe, so I thought, whatever I could do, I should.”
