Montana Brown Seeks Screen-Free School for Son Jude

Former Love Island star Montana Brown has sparked a debate about screen time in schools. The mother of two, who has a three-year-old son Jude and an eight-month-old daughter Miley, has strict rules about screen time at home and is now looking for a primary school for Jude that aligns with her values.

Montana was taken aback to find that several schools she visited plan to use devices like Chrome Books for homework. She believes her son's time would be better spent on activities like sports rather than screen time at school. Her concerns are echoed by Dr. Amanda Gummer, a parenting expert and child psychologist, who recommends limiting screen time to just 5 minutes per year of life for children aged 1-3, and up to 2 hours per day for children aged 2 and over.

Montana's top priorities for Jude's school are nutrition, quality of teaching, and minimal screen time. She also objects to schools giving children sugary treats, as she believes it negatively affects their concentration and health. Montana has previously banned her children from watching in-flight entertainment, even on long flights, and she and her fiancé Mark O'Connor decided not to give in to Jude watching TV during a flight, despite being 'human climbing frames' for the duration.

Montana's search for a suitable primary school for Jude highlights the growing concern among parents about screen time in education. While there is no available information about the school attended by Jude or whether it offers a screen-free learning environment, Montana's stance is clear: she wants the school to follow her no-screen-time rule and focus on activities that promote her son's overall well-being.
