HydroTech Expandable Burst-Proof Hoses
Approximately 3.6 million HydroTech Expandable Burst-Proof Hoses are being recalled due to the risk of unexpected bursts, which can pose an impact hazard and risk of temporarily impaired hearing if the strain relief fully unthreads or breaks.
The affected hoses are 5/8-inch expandable hoses in various lengths (25-200 ft) and colors, with date codes ending in -211 to -243 or no marking at all (found under the rubber washer).
Hazards and Remedies
Injuries reported include bone bruises, sprains, and hearing impairment (29 reported injuries). The hose can burst, creating an impact hazard. There is a risk of temporarily impaired hearing if the strain relief fully unthreads or breaks.
The remedy for the affected HydroTech hoses is to immediately stop using them. Consumers should return the hose to the store of purchase (Ace Hardware, Do It Best, Home Depot, Walmart, etc.) for a full refund. If purchased elsewhere, consumers should cut off the regulator end and contact Winston Products for a refund.
