In the year 2025 and 2026, several exhibitions across Germany will delve into the life and times of Elisabeth of Bavaria (1383–1442), a significant noblewoman who held political power in the late medieval period.

The special exhibition "A Woman in Power: Elisabeth of Bavaria (1383-1442)" will be held at the Cadolzburg from July 31, 2025, to October 19, 2025. This exhibition will contextualize her life within broader developments of German and European noble politics and cultural life, demonstrating how her reign intersected with artistic, social, and political transformations in late medieval southern Germany.

Elisabeth, also known as "beautiful Els", was a politically astute actor who managed the affairs of her duchy and navigated the turbulent political landscape of the Holy Roman Empire in the early 15th century. During her husband's long absences, she directed the dynastic affairs of both Franconia and the north, playing a key role in regional governance and cultivating political alliances. Culturally, she was a patron of the arts, possibly influencing stylistic trends in courtly dress and ceremonial practices.

The project "EFFECTIVE. Female Networks of the Hohenzollern in the Late Middle Ages" spans four generations of Hohenzollern women and will be presented at ten historical sites across Germany. The Cadolzburg will also host this project, providing an immersive experience with contemporary sounds and an extensive accompanying program.

From December 6, 2025, Schloss Neuburg an der Donau will present "Marital Bonds - (In)Power of Women?", while Burg Burghausen will host the exhibition "Women's Chamber - Women's Court" from September 17, 2025. Both exhibitions are included in the regular museum entrance fee.

The Bavarian Castle Administration has initiated another exhibition, "Princely Weddings - Networks for the Future", which will be held at Burg Trausnitz in Landshut from May 1 to August 2, 2026. This exhibition will include high-quality loan objects, multimedia media stations, and interactive offers. The Bavarian Sparkassen Foundation, which has funded the exhibition, has emphasized the importance of equality and the visibility of female scopes of action.

These exhibitions promise to shed light on the life and times of Elisabeth of Bavaria, a pioneering woman of power who challenged gender norms of her period and left a lasting legacy in political history and cultural patronage.

In the immersive exhibition "Princely Weddings - Networks for the Future" at Burg Trausnitz in Landshut, the Bavarian Sparkassen Foundation focuses on the importance of equality and the visibility of female scopes of action in the late medieval period. Additionally, the health-and-wellness sector can learn from Elisabeth of Bavaria's influence as a patron of the arts in the lifestyle domain, notably impacting courtly dress and ceremonial practices, which may provide insights into womens-health issues during that era.
