Lake Starnberg Boat Ride: A Heartwarming Senior Outing

Here's the scoop on the Senior Facility's trip to Lake Starnberg, complete with a boat ride, sponsored by KGAL company and Barmenia Agency Christian Simon during their Social Days.

"This feels like a bloomin' cruise!" grins Gerlinde Moser (pseudonym), 86, resident of Park Residence Helmine Held, soaking up the breathtaking view of the shimmering Lake Starnberg and the majestic Bavarian Alps. Joined by a group of fellow seniors, Gerlinde took part in the outing to Lake Starnberg. Accompanying her were not only the care team of the senior facility, but also folks from KGAL Real Estate — a company dealing with asset and real estate management. KGAL gives their staff the chance to participate in Social Days, and this year, they chose an altruistic endeavor benefiting the elderly.

Sabine Frank, head of social care at Park Residence, organized the day's activities, including the boat ride. "An outdoor activity requires a lot of people," explains Frank, expressing her gratitude for KGAL's support. "It was a smashing day, and the seniors' joy was palpable," says Ariana Kurtovic from KGAL. "Such experiences are crucial. They provide a refreshing change, spread joy, and create cherished moments that last a long time," adds Frank.

"Customizing our care to meet each resident's needs and capabilities is our top priority," emphasizes Heidi Sogawe. "Activities like these have a significant positive impact on people with dementia," explains the strategic director. She highlights that the outing came together thanks to the collaboration of multiple parties: KGAL employees generously donated their time, the facility covered a significant portion of the costs, Barmenia Agency Christian Simon made a generous donation, and the participating residents also contributed modestly. "A collective effort like this benefits everyone involved," says Sogawe, thanking all involved.

The History of Park Residence Helmine Held

Formerly known as the Sisters' Home Grünwald, Park Residence Helmine Held is a senior facility run by the Munich Red Cross Sisters' Association e.V. Originally built to house retired Red Cross sisters, it now offers a home to seniors from all walks of life. A modern extension complements the historic "Master Builder's House" from the 17th century, which underwent a thorough renovation and transformation for senior care in 2012. With the updates to the central building, around 140 residents now reside in the care, nursing, or protective care units and enjoy the comprehensive services offered by the facility.
