Robert R. Meyer, affectionately known as "Bob," departed this world on July 10, 2025. His passing was peaceful, with his cherished family by his side. Hailing from the bustling city of New York, Bob lived and grew up there.

Robert R. Meyer, also known as "Bob", has been summoned to an everlasting destination.

Robert R. Meyer, affectionately known as "Bob," passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, cherished father, beloved grandfather, distinguished veteran, and retired police officer.

Born and raised in New York City, Robert's life was marked by a strong sense of duty and service. He answered his country's call during the Vietnam War era, serving honorably in the United States Air Force from 1970 to 1974 as a personnel specialist, both in active duty and the reserves.

Following his military service, Robert moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1968, where he joined the Albuquerque Police Department. He served with distinction, and before leaving law enforcement, he also served in both the New York City Transit Police and the New York City Police Department.

Robert's service extended beyond the realm of law enforcement. He served in the United States Coast Guard Reserves for 24 years, retiring with the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. He also earned a Master of Public Administration from the University of New Mexico and a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from the University of Albuquerque, as well as a Bachelor and Master of Arts in History from St. John's University.

Robert is survived by his wife Carol, children Theresa, Eric, Claremarie, Andrew, grandchildren Meagan, Sydney, Lauryn, Michael, Melissa Gerrard, Carolyn Gallagher, and several other grandchildren and grandchildren-in-law. He is also survived by his siblings Karen Lee (Steven) Dejk, Sheila (Cal) Lanser, Brenda (Gary) Goerke, Karla (Dave) Stinson, Karen Kay Defazio, Kim O’Brion, Rick O’ Brion, Randy (Barb) O’Brion, and David (Rita) Zick; grandchildren Alex and Liam; and very special extended family members Bobbi Jo, Jodi, and Robin, who cared for him and were part of his blended family.

Robert was preceded in death by his father Robert E. (Delores Mae) O’Brion, mother Leah Dolores (Ray) Olson, brother James Olson, sister Dorrie Herman, and his beloved wife Annie Crom.
