A Generous Donation Boosts Services at Jona Children's Hospice

Support the Children's Hospice with a Donation

The Jona Children's Hospice of the Friedehorst Foundation has received a significant financial boost, thanks to the annual donations from Karin Tietjen and the proceeds from benefit fishing events. This year, Tietjen's donation totalled 103,000 euros, with half coming from the contents of 60 small red piggy banks.

Coordinator Monika Mörsch expressed great joy at receiving the donation, highlighting the consistent source of additional funding it provides for the hospice, benefiting severely ill children. The donation will help the facility afford activities that would otherwise be unaffordable, such as fulfilling last wishes, paying for therapies not covered by health insurance, and organizing a vacation program.

For the past 20 years, Tietjen has been making annual donations to the children's hospice, totalling 103,000 euros this year. This long-standing support has significantly contributed to funding various useful activities for severely ill children and their families.

Manuel Brünjes, Tietjen's nephew, has been organizing benefit fishing days for four years. These events have yielded a total of 49,500 euros in four years, with some hobby anglers donating 500 or 1,000 euros spontaneously for the children's hospice.

The piggy bank donations have also helped to raise additional funds beyond the Benefit Fishing events, totalling 49,500 euros in four years. These piggy banks are on tour in various shops and businesses in Hagen, Tarmstedt, Schwanewede, Lilienthal, and Osterholz-Scharmbeck.

Regular donations like these can provide a stable source of income, allowing the hospice to budget and plan for the future. They can help improve the quality of care provided to patients, including specialized medical care, therapy, and support services. Funding can also support the hiring of more staff or provide training for existing staff, ensuring they have the latest skills and knowledge in palliative care.

For precise details about how Karin Tietjen's contributions have impacted the Jona Children's Hospice over the past 20 years, it would be best to contact the hospice directly or consult any publicly available statements regarding her contributions. However, it is clear that such significant donations have played a crucial role in the hospice's ability to sustain and expand its services over the past two decades. The donation was presented by Karin Tietjen and Manuel Brünjes during a donation handover in Buschhausen.

The generous donation from Karin Tietjen, totaling 103,000 euros, will contribute to the Jona Children's Hospice's health-and-wellness programs, allowing them to provide affordability for activities like granting last wishes, paying for uninsured therapies, and organizing vacation programs. The continued support from Tietjen over the past 20 years has significantly advanced the science of palliative care at the hospice, facilitating improved quality of care.
