Teenage daughter of a man from Madhya Pradesh rape victimized, father takes newly born daughter and abandons her in bushes, resulting in his arrest.

A shocking incident has unfolded in Madhya Pradesh's Khargone district, where a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her father, leading to her pregnancy and the subsequent abandonment of her newborn baby.

The horrific event came to light when the newborn was found in the bushes, covered in ant bites and in a critical condition. The baby was initially treated at a local hospital in Khargone before being transferred to MTH Hospital in Indore, where it currently remains on ventilator support.

The girl's father was arrested on Friday under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita provisions[1]. The man allegedly conducted the girl's delivery at home and, upon finding her unconscious, reportedly threw the newborn baby in the bushes and fled.

The police have registered a case against the unidentified father under section 93 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for abandoning a child under twelve years[1]. DNA samples of the baby, the survivor, and the accused have been sent for testing as part of the investigation[1].

The legal proceedings involve charges related to rape under the POCSO Act, which protects children from sexual offenses, and abandonment of a child under twelve years as per the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The survivor, a minor, is admitted in a clinic, while the accused is currently in police custody[1].

Dr. Pawan Patidar, the head of the special newborn care unit at MTH Hospital in Indore, is overseeing the baby's treatment. The police and district authorities are handling the case under stringent laws protecting minors from sexual abuse and exploitation[1].

The girl reportedly revealed to the police that the rape occurred while they were working as laborers in Rajkot, Gujarat[1]. The baby received first aid at a local hospital in Khargone before being transferred to the district hospital.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for stricter laws and stronger enforcement to protect minors from sexual abuse and neglect in India. The accused faces serious charges under Indian laws designed to protect children and minors, while the newborn’s medical condition remains critical.

  1. The distressing instance in Madhya Pradesh's Khargone district, involving a 16-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by her father, underscores the importance of enhancing health-and-wellness education, particularly focusing on sexual-health, within families.
  2. As the accused stands trial for his actions under the POCSO Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita provisions, it is crucial for general-news outlets to raise awareness about the rights and protections afforded to children and minors in India, including their right to family-health and parenting free from abuse and exploitation.
  3. In light of the situation, it is essential for communities to stand united against crime-and-justice, advocating for stricter enforcement of laws protecting the health and well-being of minors, and promoting a society built upon respect, equity, and justice for all.
