The Wiltmann Company, based in North Rhine-Westphalia, has issued a recall for its Rein Rind-Salami product (70g) due to a potential health risk. The affected batches have best before dates of 14.08.2025, 21.08.2025, and 25.08.2025, and were produced by the Wiltmann Company.

The recall is due to the contamination of the salami with Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) bacteria. This bacterium can cause severe abdominal cramps, bloody diarrhea, vomiting, and in severe cases, may lead to hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), which affects the kidneys and can cause kidney failure.

Consumers are advised not to eat the affected salami batches and to return or dispose of the product as a precaution. The Wiltmann Company encourages consumers to pay close attention to this recall and not consume the affected product.

It is important to note that other batches of the Rein Rind-Salami product are not affected by the recall.

The recall was announced on the internet by the Wiltmann Company due to a single test that detected EHEC bacteria in the beef salami. Consumers with health sensitivities, such as children, pregnant women, or the elderly, should exercise caution when handling the recalled beef salami.

The recalled beef salami was sold nationwide in Rewe, Netto, Edeka, Kaufland, and other supermarkets. Consumers can return the product to the place of purchase for a refund, regardless of whether a receipt is available.

Symptoms of STEC infection typically include severe abdominal cramps, bloody diarrhea, vomiting, and sometimes mild or no fever. Anyone experiencing these symptoms after consuming contaminated food should seek medical attention promptly.

In summary, the Wiltmann Company has recalled its Rein Rind-Salami product (70g) with best before dates of 14.08.2025, 21.08.2025, and 25.08.2025 due to contamination with Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) bacteria. Consumers are advised not to consume the affected product and to follow the recall instructions to avoid health risks.

In the wake of the recall, Wiltmann Company recommends avoiding the consumption of their Rein Rind-Salami product, especially in conjunction with health-and-wellness practices. As a precaution, they urge lifestyle modifications that exclude food-and-drink products affected by the recall, which were produced and distributed nationwide.
