Train accident leaves woman injured, resulting in amputation of one leg.

A 31-year-old Saya Abasheva shares her gripping story as told by Almaty.tv correspondent Anastasia Yatsun. Back in the early 2000s, a young girl selling goods at Almaty's train station had a tragic accident, getting run over by a train. The doctors worked tirelessly to save her life, but they couldn't salvage her leg, leading to its amputation. Ever since, the girl on crutches has faced merciless taunts from both teens and adults, being referred to as the "Terminator" on numerous occasions.

"One day, I decided to march down to the market on crutches, foregoing my prosthesis. People turned to stare, whispering about me. You can hear it all. Old ladies would gossip, 'What's this girl doing here? Why isn't she at home?' I pretended not to hear their spiteful words. Yes, I had my share of dark days. I hid away at home for over a year, battling depression, convinced my life was doomed," Saya Abasheva recalls with melancholy.

Despite the relentless mockery, Saya never surrendered to despair. Gathering all her grit, she resolved to show everyone—and most importantly, herself—that life is a precious gift to be embraced courageously. She took up singing and learned to play table tennis. Now she competes in numerous competitions and takes home the prizes.

From then on, Saya continued visiting the local rehabilitation center. Here, individuals with disabilities receive the necessary medical care and use their free time to sing, perform, and prepare for the next competitions.

"Saya is an energetic girl. She throws herself into every event we organize. The girl manages to perform on stage, sing a song, and compete in sports events. Saya is incredibly cheerful and optimistic," says Gulnara Abilkhanova, a doctor at the rehabilitation center.

Throughout her journey, Saya has confronted many obstacles. The toughest one by far has been the psychological pressure. Still, Saya refuses to give up and keeps pushing forward, setting new goals for herself.
