Two Commerce students detained for accusations of abduction and sexual assault against a Class 11 student.
In a harrowing act reported by PTI and Outlook News Desk, two BCom students, Ankit (19) from Bihar and Lakshya (18) from Uttar Pradesh, have been arrested for the alleged kidnapping and gang-rape of a 17-year-old Class 11 student in Maharashtra.
The act occurred on Tuesday while the victim was en route to a tuition centre. According to the victim's father, she did not return home by 6:30 pm, prompting him to file a complaint. The victim had reportedly connected with the accused on Instagram approximately two to three months prior to the act.
The victim returned home around 8 pm, scared and crying, and recounted the act to her father. She alleged that she was intercepted on the road by the accused, who offered her a ride to the tuition centre despite her refusals. The girl was then taken to a secluded area where she was raped.
Following the complaint, an FIR was registered at Shivaji Nagar police station on Tuesday under Section 4 of the POCSO Act, and Sections 96, 70(1), and 3(5) of the BNS. A medical examination of the victim was conducted, and the investigation into the case is ongoing.
The accused, Ankit and Lakshya, were students residing in the city. This is the second death penalty under the POCSO Act in one day, but the search results do not provide specific information about which police authority is responsible for investigating the alleged rape and abduction.
The news about the death penalties and the ongoing investigation was also reported by PTI. The act serves as a grim reminder of the need for stricter laws and increased vigilance to protect minors from such heinous crimes.
